Dear Friends,

          It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2008 Easter Sunrise Service at the world-famous Hollywood Bowl. We are blessed to be celebrating this traditional Easter service which has been a part of the Los Angeles community for 87 years. In the spirit of Peace, we dedicate this service to all who serve their country and community. We have made every effort to ensure this year’s event is a credit to the legacy of its founders, such as Artie Mason Carter, Mrs. Leiland Atherton Irish, Charles E. Toberman, and George L. Eastman.

          The multi-cultural makeup of our city is reflected today in the diversity of our multi-denominational participants. We gratefully thank all of our participants – those appearing on stage sharing their God-given gifts, and those behind the scenes – whose dedication and tireless efforts have made this service possible. It is important to know that all of our participants are volunteers, donating freely of their time and talent. This is a tradition founded by and for the community. With the help of everyone who contributes their faith, time, and effort, so it will remain.

          The Board of Directors works hard throughout the year in planning the service. We wish to thank our Board, as well as the Easter Sunrise Service Guild and its President Knarig Boyadjian, for their invaluable assistance with our membership drive and year-round fund raising.

          Members of the Hollywood Bowl Easter Sunrise Service, Inc organization and Board have made it possible for the Sunrise Service to be presented this 86th continuous year, free of charge to the world.

          Your continued support of this beautiful Easter tradition is gratefully appreciated. The sale of Souvenir Programs, the offertory collection during the service, contributions, and donations provide for the expenses, making all of this possible.

          On behalf of all the volunteers, we welcome you and your loved ones to this joyful, glorious Easter celebration.

          How fitting that we are celebrating our 87th Anniversary on the fifth new stage at the Hollywood Bowl, our founding home. HAPPY EASTER!
